10 Month Program vs. 12 Month Program
Why are you doing things differently this year?
We decided to do this business model because we want to optimize the ability to provide full time, quality child care to our families for 12 months out of the year.
General Questions
What are the hours?
Summer hours and school year hours vary.
School year hours are 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Thursday and 8:30- 2:00 PM on Friday. Early care is available from 8:00 AM- 8:30 AM and aftercare is available from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM. There is no aftercare on Friday.
Summer camp hours are 8:45 AM-3:15 PM Monday- Thursday and 8:45- 2:00 PM on Friday. Aftercare is available until 4:00, there is no aftercare on Friday.
Which calendar are you following?
We are not following any other school calendar. Our goal is to provide childcare as often as we can. We will be closed for all Jewish holidays, a handful of legal holidays, winter break and Chanukah break. When our official school calendar for 2026-2027 is complete it will be emailed out to all currently enrolled/registered families.
The first day of summer camp is June 22, 2026. The last day of summer camp is August 20, 2026.
The first day of the school year is August 25, 2026. The last day of school will be June 16, 2027.
Will you be providing lunch?
We do not serve food or snacks with the exception of Shabbos party and birthday parties. All food must be provided each day by the parents.
Is there nap time?
All children enrolled will have a set nap time. Children that do not fall asleep during nap time will be allowed to look at books quietly on their mats.
Do you accept Religious Exemption for immunizations?
No. All children enrolled will be required to have up to date immunization records on file.
Questions about Registration.
What is the application process?
Registration for currently enrolled students to re-enroll will open on November 30, 2025 and stay open through December 4, 2025. We guarantee spots for all of our currently enrolled students until December 4, after that we open registration to the public and we cannot guarantee space.
If you are a current family you can submit an application during pre-registration for a younger sibling that isn’t currently attending Kids & Colors. Space is first guaranteed to currently enrolled students but we will do our best to accommodate our current families.
After we receive your registration form, we will add a registration charge to your Brightwheel account. Once you submit a (NON-REFUNDABLE) $500 registration fee your spot will be confirmed
If there is no space available in your child's age group, we will let you know that your child is on the waiting list.
My child is on the waiting list, can you just squeeze them in?
Each classroom has a maximum capacity and an adult to child ratio they must uphold which is set by the Department of Children and Families. If your child is on the waiting list it is simply because we do not have space.
Is the registration fee refundable?
No, if you choose to drop out, for any reason, the registration fee is non-refundable.
Why is the registration fee $500, I don’t remember it being so high in the past?
Since we are combining our summer and school programs to a 12 month program we are also combining the charges for registration for summer and school into one charge.

Questions about Teachers
Who will be my child’s teacher?
We have hired an incredible staff who are as committed to providing quality childcare as we are. Our staff loves working with children and are excited to provide the children with a warm and loving atmosphere. All teachers will be trained and observed by us. In addition, all employees are required to be fingerprinted and have a level 2 background screening. DCF requires that all employees participate in 45 hours of initial training and an additional 10 hours of in service training each year.
What is the child to teacher ratio?
The daycare center will uphold DCF regulations when it comes to child/staff ratio. These are maximum guidelines and some classes will have smaller ratios.
1:4 (babies)
1:6 (one year olds)
1:11 (two year olds)
1:15 (three year olds)
Questions about Curriculum
What will my child learn in school?
Our approach to learning is play based. Our goal is to provide our toddlers hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for the children to develop cognitively, socially and emotionally.
We’ve selected units that are exciting for the young children in our care to learn about. Some of those units include: animals, transportation, nature & weather, colors, shapes and much more.
All of our classes learn about the Yomim Tovim! The children make Sukkah decorations for Sukkos, spin dreidels on Chanukah and craft beautiful Haggadahs for Pesach.
Incorporated into all the units are lots of sensory experiences such as kinetic sand, shaving cream and water tables just to name a few.
